Artist Statement: My work combines animal ethology and human psychology by attributing human characteristics and behaviors to anthropomorphize historical art works. Symbolically and metaphorically animals project my self-awareness. Since childhood, my motivation for art making has been connected with my love for animals. By creating these detailed storytelling images, I invite my audience to look deeper, to contemplate and connect with my emotions. Anthropomorphizing the subjects highlights how much animals and humans have in common.
I employed a variety of techniques and styles to expand my artistic practice, and to fully reference the historical works. I present each character in my painting with different concepts in a fun and humorous way, as I want viewers to imagine the story behind my paintings and interpret the story through their personal perspective.
