Artist Statement: I paint landscapes in an attempt to save something of the world we have today. The consequences of humanities continued abuse of the environment are inevitable. Our world is changing. This work is a reflection of my anxieties around the idea of change, and climate uncertainty.
Furthermore, I produce my artwork using oil paint, a toxic substance. It’s a subtle nod towards my complacency within a ‘system’ that perpetuates poisoning the environment. I apply the paint using pastels. This process allows me to accentuate my line work making it appear more agitated and frantic, in an attempt to reflect my feelings.
