Peter Friedrichsen is a Toronto-based artist who has been practicing alternative photographic printing processes for over 10 years. These processes are applied to a variety of surfaces including paper, wood, copper, and aluminum. Photographic imagery or camera-less photograms may form the basis for the work where negative space complements these elements. A minimalist approach is found in much of his work.
Artist Statement: ‘Horizon’ and ‘Epsom Salts’ are two prints from a solo exhibit in 2019. They are part of a collection of cyanotype photogram prints imaged from personal and found objects, placed in and out of context. Plant materials, glassware, metal, plastic figures, paper, and other objects may combine to form an imagined scene or be free of all association.
