Mo So

Artist’s Statement

Capturing the magic moment in a photo begins the process. Transforming the capture into powerful, relatable imagery aims to evoke a visceral and vibrant experience. My vision of my images employs a heightened realistic style that preserves the recognizability to the viewer while encouraging their own imagination and storytelling to look beyond the surface complexity.

Biography

My images are mostly printed on canvas. My dual life as a surgeon and photographer is in a constant state of flux. I hide behind my pseudonym on the basis of shyness about my art and to maintain some separation of my two personas. Photography and travel have always been major imperatives in my life. In recent years, my profession and my art have started melding. The natural draw during travel toward landscape and architectural photography has morphed into greater interest in evocative street and human photography. I operate on faces so the metamorphosis was likely inevitable.

The rest is blessed: Family Man, Surgeon, Teacher, Inventor, Entrepreneur and Artist.
