"I live in a marvelous city, and I rejoice in its vibrancy while in nature I find calm. Intrigue and awe animate my experiences.
In Namibia, I was mesmerized by the rhythm of the sands and their warm temperatures and tones against the brilliantly cool skies. Using a palette of burnt sienna, purple lake and brilliant yellow extra pale in the landscape, and of cobalt and ultramarine blues in its skies, I have tried to capture the serenity and longevity of the desert, and its magnificent presence.
I am taken with the natural light in the sky and in the landscape, light that is influenced by time, weather and season. Very simply, in my paintings I seek to express the calm I feel from nature and my awe of its majesty.
I want these paintings to be an invitation to you into these seemingly empty spaces, to give you an opening to explore and to look forward, and space to move ahead."
