Artist Statement: With a culmination of found objects which include; textiles, ceramics, party supplies, urban findings and much more, Blair cultivates a visual literacy on not taking life seriously. This visual language evolves into installations of all sizes creating an environment or utopia that poke fun and parody a reality that seems familiar to most. Blair, uses these materials too manifest comic relief, into a visual coping mechanism, which gives a second hand sensation to the viewer.
The collection of objects serves purpose as it expands the visual language and creates more possibilities with combinations and relationships between the objects. Using these objects in new ways for every installation environment are tools Blair uses to ignite story-telling into the mix of the environment, which the viewer can discover and create their own interpretations from. The for Blair is to be as interactive as possible, using all of the senses so people can take that visceral experience and apply the excited naive way of thinking to everyday life once leaving the space.
